Diabetes Health in the News: New Telehealth Program May Help Children at Risk of Obesity

St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital recently launched a new telehealth project designed to help kids with weight management issues. This 12-week pilot will enable registered dietician nutritionists to monitor patients at home via the Fruit Street platform, which offers a mobile app. An activity tracker and scale will also be provided.

RDNs will conduct baseline nutrition visits to choose attainable nutritional goals. Throughout the program, the RDN will complete video visits with the patient, who can also send in images of meals to the RDN. The program will provide remote monitoring and real-time coaching to give children access the nutritional guidance they need to live healthier lives.
