A recent report has shown that medical providers strongly rely on outsourcing HER, RCM, and other coding activities to outside vendors.
Approximately 22% of respondents outsource at least part of their coding, and the top vendors selected to do the job, are Optum360, Heath Information Resource Group, M*Modal, and Nuance.
These providers trust their vendors to handle the transition to ICD-10 coding. They have not implemented any other measures to address the potential adverse impact this could have on their revenue.
Outsourcing coding activities has helped to ease the anxiety of many medical providers, and this has led to improved business and clinical care.
These findings were published in Healthcare IT News on October 1, 2015.
