Type 1 & 2 Diabetes: An Alternative to Starbucks for People With Diabetes
A Frappuccino from Starbucks is delicious, no doubt about it, but it can have close to five hundred calories if you go for all the options, and over sixty hefty grams of carbohydrates. Not a good idea if you have diabetes, but then again, depriving yourself is no fun either. What to do, what to do….
Well, now you can drink up with the rest of the nation’s thirty million coffee imbibers, because the New York Coffee Company is bottling a pretty fair substitute for those calorie-laden coffee shop lattes. Called “Iced ‘Spresso,” they’re sweetened with Splenda and have only 90 calories, 2.5 grams of fat, and 11 grams of carbs in a 9.5 ounce bottle. That’s quite a drop from the 200 calories in Starbucks’ offerings of the same size, and they even carry the same caffeine punch as a standard cup of coffee.
We’ve personally tried all four of their flavors (Mocha Mudslide,American Vanilla, Ultra Lite Espresso Latte, and Caramel Dulce DeLeche), and every one of them is downright delicious. They’re kind of pricey at $19.99 for a pack of twelve, but not bad compared to what you’d spend at the coffee shop.
If you happen to live in New York, Connecticut, New Jersey, or Chicago, they’re available in stores. Otherwise, go online at www.newyorkcoffeeco.com to make your order.
