The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved the Dexcom G5, a Mobile Continuous Glucose Monitoring System, a first of its kind.
What makes this medical device unique? users will now have their glucose data sent directly to their smartphone or iOS-enabled device, eliminating the need to carry a separate receiver. This technology allows for greater flexibility and mobility than any other CGM systems on the market.
The Mobile Dexcom CGM uses the most advanced technology to allow up to five people, to remotely follow the users glucose information. This can be especially helpful for parents who wish to better manage the glucose levels of their children, as the system has also been approved for use in children as young as two years old.
