LifeScan Recall of all OneTouch Verio IQ Blood Glucose Meters in US

As of March 25, 2013, LifeScan has begun a voluntary recall and replacement of all of its OneTouch® Verio®IQ blood glucose meters in the United States. The meters are being recalled and replaced because of a technical problem that fails to deliver important information about extremely high blood glucose levels.

Although the likelihood of having a high enough blood glucose level to cause the meter to fail to provide a warning is highly unlikely, if it should happen, diagnosis and treatment may be delayed or the wrong treatment may be given. Either could lead to a serious health risk or even a fatality.

If you use a OneTouch® Verio®IQ Meter, contact LifeScan Customer Service at 800-717-0276 to speak with a LifeScan representative from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. EDT, Monday through Sunday, and arrange to receive a replacement meter at no charge. More information about the recall is available at www.onetouch.com.

You can continue testing with your LifeScan meter while you wait for your replacement so long as you are aware of this issue. However, if the meter unexpectedly turns itself off during testing, you might have extreme hyperglycemia and should call your healthcare professional immediately

LifeScan is notifying all registered users, healthcare professionals, pharmacies and distributors wherever the product is sold.
