Life Cycle for Diabetes

Diabetes Adventure Tours (the travel armof the Diabetes and Wellness Foundation)is organizing a weeklong cycling tripdesigned especially for people withdiabetes.

According to a press release, the biketrip will take place October 2-7, 2005, inGirona, Spain, and will offer people withdiabetes a chance “to tour with other like-minded people in an environment thatcaters to them specifically.”

Participants will cycle 45 to 55 miles aday, but there will be longer and shorteroptions for both the avid and moreleisurely cyclists. There will also be vansupport for repairs, refreshments andweary bodies.

“Each evening during the wine andcheese hour, there will be a discussionon topics relevant to the diabetic who isliving an active, healthy lifestyle, such asnutrition management and the diabeticathlete. By the end of the vacation, guestswill fully understand the essential benefitsof exercise for managing diabetes.”

The trip costs $2,175 per person based ondouble occupancy. The trip cost does notinclude airfare.
