Most people don’t know what they need to know about diabetes self-management. Why? Because there is a lot to learn, and it does not happen overnight.
I have over thirty years of experience helping people manage their diabetes by working with their healthcare professionals.
For example, I had one type 2 client experiencing low blood sugar in the middle of the night. I asked him to call his healthcare professional to see if his medication needed to be reduced, and it did. Eventually, he went off his type 2 diabetes medication and now manages his blood sugars with diet and exercise. His success has given him the confidence to set a new goal, slowly getting off his hypertension medication by losing weight. As you know, losing weight is a lot easier said than done. Now I am helping him select foods he enjoys eating that contribute to his weight loss.
