Clinical trials have recently studied how a daily dose of 3 milligrams of Liraglutide, (Novo Nordisk’s, Saxenda) affected weight loss in diabetes patients. The study involved 846 obese or overweight patients, living with type 2 diabetes. After 56 weeks, the participants who were prescribed a 3-milligram dose, lost about 14 pounds. This group also experienced a significant reduction in BMI and waist circumference, in comparison to participants receiving a placebo and lower dose of Liraglutide .
These findings suggest that prescribing a 3. milligram daily dose of the medication can not only help to control glucose levels, but it can also help to promote long-term weight loss.
These findings were published in the Journal of the American Medical Association on August 18th, 2015 .
