A new study has examined the most successful postpartum weight loss strategies after the birth of a child. The findings indicated that lifestyle changes including diet and exercise, especially approaches that use self-monitoring, are essential for weight loss.
Researchers from the Greater Green Triangle University in Australia reviewed postpartum weight loss in women within one year of delivery. It examined the lifestyle intervention strategies employed by each participant. Researchers found that significantly greater weight loss was experienced with self-monitoring programs. Additionally, programs that combined physical activity and diet were considerably more effective regarding weight loss than exercise alone.
These findings were published in an issue of Obesity Reviews on August 27, 2015.
