Mobile health tools are making it easier than ever for diabetes patients to manage their condition. However, a recent study found that only 45% of patients are using these resources.

The study completed by HealthMine found that 30% of respondents claimed they did not know which technologies could benefit them. Forty percent said they preferred to use more traditional methods.

This study shows a major area for improvement, as mobile apps and devices can help to better manage diabetes by providing a 24/7 tool that can be customized to meet personal preferences.

Since more than 70% of diabetes patients also need to control another medical condition, the use of mobile health tools can be extremely beneficial.

These findings were published in Heath Intelligence on October 2, 2015.
