I want to leave a comment about where a T1 should test or inject, but I do not use Facebook nor do I have a desire to sign up.

I encourage my nine-year-old type 1 diabetic son to test or inject anywhere he wants to. To me, it shows that the person cares and is taking responsibility for their health.

When my son first started school, the principal wanted to buy an “orange safety ring”. He wanted to put it around my son and his caretaker (parent), so no child passing, accidentally got poked. Even worse, got injected with insulin.

As a mom, this lit a big fire under me. I asked the principle if a kid gets stung by a bee, are you going to put the “orange ring” around the child? So a passing child doesn’t accidentally get injected by the epi-pen?  Needless to say, the principal now does not challenge me or my family anymore. So I strongly encourage any T1 to do what they need to do to stay healthy.

~Connie proud mom to a T1 diabetic son. Pray for a cure and let’s make type 1 type none.
