ACCU-CHEK Combo Insulin Pump Now Available in U.S.
Roche Diagnostics says that its ACCU-CHEK Combo insulin pump system is now available in the US market. The system uses Bluetooth wireless technology to allow a glucose meter/insulin pump combination exchange data.
The wireless capability not only enables quick readings by users, it also allows for remote operation. It also features a “bolus advisor” to help users determine the proper amount of insulin.
Other system features include:
• A full-color display that shows blood glucose data, insulin dose information, and pump
settings
• The bolus advice function allows users to calculate and deliver a bolus without touching the pump
• The basal rate can be adjusted to as low as 0.05 units per hour, in increments as precise as
0.01 units
• An insulin cartridge that holds up to 315 units of insulin, the largest capacity among
pumps currently sold in the US.
The ACCU-CHEK Combo system has already been marketed in several European and Asian- Pacific countries, including France, Germany, the UK, and Australia.
