AADE Introduces Free Mobile App for People With Diabetes
The American Association of Diabetes Educators has introduced a free mobile app for people with diabetes that helps them set and track goals for changes in lifestyle and behavior.
“AADE Diabetes Goal Tracker,” an app that is available for download from iTunes and the Google Play Store, is an interactive tool that incorporates the AADE7 Self-Care BehaviorsTM– the core tenets of diabetes education:
• Healthy eating
• Being active
• Monitoring
• Taking medication
• Problem solving
• Healthy coping
• Reducing Risks
For each element of the AADE7, patients can set their goals, enter their progress, and track their successes. A unique feature of this app is the ability for users to share their completed goals with one another, allowing them to learn from each other’s experiences.
The app was developed by the American Association of Diabetes Educators, with support from Boehringer Ingelheim, Lilly, Genentech, and Novo Nordisk. AADE unveiled the app at its recent annual meeting in Philadelphia.
AADE is a multi-disciplinary professional membership organization dedicated to improving diabetes care through education. With more than 13,000 professional members including nurses, dietitians, pharmacists, and others, AADE has a vast network of practitioners involved in the daily treatment of diabetes patients.
