A Little Dark Chocolate Does a Little Good for Blood Pressure

According to a June study in the Journal of the American MedicalAssociation, eating one small square of very dark chocolate lowerssystolic (the top number) blood pressure by about three points anddiastolic (the bottom number) blood pressure by about two points.

You must stick to dark chocolate that's at least fifty percentcocoa: white or milk chocolate won't do the trick. The effect maybe due to the flavanols contained in cocoa; or the dark chocolatemight increase levels of nitric oxide, which lowers blood pressureby relaxing blood vessels.

In any case, don't eat more than a tiny bite: it's all you need, and we all know what too much chocolate can do.
