Soybean-Derived Pinitol Improves a Host of Problems in Type 2s

Pinitol, isolated from soybeans, may bebeneficial in reducing cardiovascular risk intype 2s, according to Korean researchers.

In a randomized study, a total of30 type 2 patients received 600-mg oraldoses of soybean-derived pinitol orplacebo twice daily for 13 weeks.

Pinitol significantly decreased meanfasting plasma glucose, insulin,fructosamine and A1C. In addition,pinitol decreased total cholesterol,LDL cholesterol, systolic and diastolicblood pressure and increasedHDL cholesterol.
