Multi-Talented Diabetes Educator Is a Joy to the World

Joy Pape, RN, BSN, CDE, WOCN, CFCN

Vivacious Joy Pape is a diabetes educator. She's also a partner in a health education (edutainment) comedy team, clinical editor for Diabetes Health, a cookbook consultant, and a diagnosed pre-diabetic who takes metformin, checks her glucose religiously and carefully keeps off the 60 lbs. she lost to get and keep her blood glucose normal. In this interview she and Scott cover a gamut of topics, from the need to understand that each case of diabetes is unique to her efforts to liven up diabetes education. The two also discuss the role of spirituality, the touchy issue of low-carbohydrate diets, and Halle Berry's recent announcement that she's weaned herself off insulin.
