The “JoBros” are red hot.
An online charity auction website, Charity Folks, reports that the Jo Bros top the list of the ten hottest celebrity draws on their site. The youngest brother, Nick, has type 1 diabetes.
The mega-popular Jonas Brothers band raised $450,000 in a recent online charity auction that arranged VIP tickets and meet-and-greets in exchange for donations to the band's Change for the Children Foundation. According to the foundation's website, Change for the Children inspires children to help other kids who are less fortunate. With the help of their fans, Change for the Children has given large sums to five charities, including the American Diabetes Association's Diabetes Camp.
The Charity Folks website holds online auctions for all sorts of cool experiences with celebs and the like. It's no wonder to Diabetes Health that the JoBros' "meet and greet" auction was such a success-we are often asked how kids with diabetes can meet the inspiring Nick Jonas. (Alas, we have no inside track and can't help.) On the December 2008 day that I visited the website, the top auctions included helping "Jack Bauer" save the world with a walk-on role on Fox's TV show "24"; a walk-on role on ABC's "GREEK!" (including airfare for 2); and a tennis lesson from the King of Swing, Pete Sampras.
Billy Joel is the second-highest breadwinner on the Charity Folks list, with $400,000 earned from a private New York concert. Bruce Springsteen came in third with $300,000, followed by Morgan Freeman, Howard Stern sidekick Robin Quivers, and the cast of "The Sopranos."
