DiabetesAmerica, a network of diabetes care and management centers across Texas, is offering free online health and lifestyle classes to the public.
The online, interactive “Healthy Living Series” consists of 30-minute courses presented by a dietitian, registered nurse or certified diabetes educator. Class topics include “Stress Management,” “Healthy Supermarket Selections,” “Exercising with Diabetes,” “Healthy Summer Menus” and more.
At the end of each course, participants are able to chat live with the presenter who is available to answer questions, offer advice and provide support.
The online format enables people to receive valuable educational and nutritional advice from professionals without leaving the comfort of their homes or offices.
The company says the classes are not just for individuals with diabetes. “Most of the classes are not diabetes-specific,” says Liz Bello, Director of Education & Nutrition Services for DiabetesAmerica. “Each class is designed to appeal to anyone who is looking for advice on how to live a healthier life, whether they have diabetes or not.”
If you live in Texas, you can find a complete schedule of classes or register for a specific class by visiting: http://www.diabetesamerica.com/calendar_webinar_2008.cfm
