A1c Test Can Predict Type 2 Diabetes

Most people with diabetes are familiar with the A1c test as a measure of cumulative exposure to glucose over a period of three months.
Recently researchers looked into whether an elevated A1c predicted the development of type 2 diabetes in healthy women. In a study published in the American Journal of Medicine, they examined 26,563 women, of whom 1,238 developed type 2 diabetes over a ten-year period.
They found that A1c was a strong predictor of type 2 diabetes, the risk for which rose right along with rising A1c's.

A1C testing is easy, cheap (usually done in conjunction with a routine blood test) and very good a predicting onset diabetes type II
anything uder 7% is good above 9% is of concern. Sugar Busters and The Glycemic Revolution books are good sources for information on the control/prevention of Diabetes type II
