Latest Type 2 Issues Articles
In a February 2007 report in Diabetes Care, researchers found that women with yeast infections get
better results with boric acid suppositories than with the prescription anti-fungal Diflucan (fluconazole).
As it turns out, about two/thirds of the yeast infections suffered by diabetic women in the study group were caused by the fungus Candida glabrata, which responds poorly to anti-fungal pills like Diflucan. Most non-diabetic women, on the other hand, get Candida albicans, which responds well to such pills. After fourteen days of daily boric acid suppositories, 64 percent of the women with Candida glabrata were cured, compared to 29 percent of the women who were given Diflucan.
