Diabetes Teen Talk is a new online community aimed at educating and inspiring teens with diabetes. The site, www.diabetesteentalk.com, launched in January 2006, and it will offer interviews, articles, a message board and a chat room where teens can learn more about diabetes and connect with others.
“Teen Talk offers a great and unique service to teens with diabetes,” says Allison Blass, who is a 20 year-old type 1 and youth programs manager for the Web site. “I hope to continue helping teens as they transition from being teens to adults. Education and support is vital to staying happy, focused and in control. I didn’t have this kind of support when I was a teen, and I’m happy to see it makes a difference.”
Blass has previously worked as a Children’s Congress delegate in 2001; an editor of CureNow, a Web site focused on research and advocacy; and as a youth programs manager and freelance writer for Diabetes Portal. She writes Lemonade Life, a blog about life with diabetes, at www.lemonlemonade.blogspot.com. Blass is a senior at the University of Oregon.

Is there any 14 year olds I can talk to?
