Latest Complementary Therapies Articles
The use of complementary and alternative medicine is higher than the national average in people with type 2 diabetes, say researchers from Ann Arbor, Michigan, who presented data at the June 2002 American Diabetes Association Scientific Sessions in San Francisco.
In a survey of 138 people diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, with an average age of 63, 88 percent reported that they used complementary and alternative medicine in addition to their conventional therapies. Nutritional supplements were the most common form, with 65 percent of those surveyed stating that they take vitamin E, C or B12.
Forty percent of those using complementary and alternative medicine indicate that they do so to prevent complications.
