Have you dreamed of having a low-cost diabetes management program to track daily nutrition information, exercise, medication and blood glucose levels? D-Diabetic Software from Sugar World offers these features and more.

D-Diabetic Software was designed to track data for both individual and multiple users or patients.

The main screen in D-Diabetic Software is divided into several areas of interest: Diabetes, Food, Exercise, Patients, Setup and Reports. These options are shown as large buttons near the top of the screen.

The Diabetes option takes you to an educational section that explains diabetes in plain English. There are several topics related to diabetes: Basics of Diabetes, Complications, Heart Disease, Eye Care and many more. This is a nice feature for those who are newly diagnosed with diabetes.

The Food area allows you to access a food database with nutritional information for many kinds of foods. You can also add your own customized food to the database. The program includes popular fast foods in the database, too—do you really want to know the nutritional information for a Big Mac?

Another nifty feature is the Exercise portion of the software. There is a database of various kinds of exercise, such as walking, jogging and basketball. You can add your own custom exercise to the database, too. When you select a type of exercise from the list, you can then indicate the duration of the exercise, the intensity and any other notes you might want to make.

So Much Data—Now What?

The Reports option will allow you to view and print many different types of reports using your data. There are five different reports for blood glucose, six for food and exercise, five for medications, and several for patients, supplies, doctors and more.

You might be wondering if the software allows you to download data from a blood glucose meter or manually enter blood glucose readings. The answer is yes—you can do both. The software currently supports the following blood glucose meters:

  • Accu-Chek Advantage
  • Accu-Chek Compact
  • Accu-Chek Active
  • Accu-Chek Comfort
  • Accu-Chek Complete
  • Accu-Chek Sensor

The software sells for $39.99 and can be downloaded from www.diabetic-software.com. For more information, visit that Web site or call Sugar World at (800) 897-9018.

Q. Would this program be useful to people without diabetes?

A. Yes. D-Diabetic Software can be used to track nutritional information to help control weight.

Q. Is D-Diabetic Software available from any other vendor besides Sugar World?

A. Not at this time.

Q. Can I track my diabetes supplies?

A. Yes. D-Diabetic Software can track supplies and remind you when you need to get more.
