Diabetes Diary Sets Targets for Nutritional and BG Levels

Do you use a personal computer running on the Windows operating system?

Have you dreamed of having a low-cost diabetes management program to track daily nutrition information, exercise, medication and blood glucose levels?

Diabetes Diary from Tricalico Interactive offers these features plus many more.

Sets Targets for Nutritional and BG Levels

Diabetes Diary was designed to track both individual and multiple users or patients. The start-up screen will let you select which patient you wish to monitor. You can set up targets for nutritional and blood glucose levels for each patient. The software allows 14 different times per day to record glucose readings and four target categories for these times.

The four categories are “OK Low,” “Good Low,” “Good High” and “OK High.”

More Than 5,000 Food Selections

Diabetes Diary has an extensive food database with more than 5,000 food selections with full data on calories, fat, saturated fat, cholesterol, carbohydrates, fiber and protein. Generic food items are arranged alphabetically in categories like baked goods, beverages, dairy products, desserts and sweets, fruits, grains, soups and so forth.

Brand name products are also arranged alphabetically.

Does Diabetes Diary Let You Customize the Food Database?

In a word: Yes.

You may add your own food selections or edit existing selections in the database. You may copy or move foods from one category to another. Diabetes Diary also supports a “favorites” list that allows you to have quick access to your favorite foods without searching through the database. You may also import custom food entries from a comma-delimited file, so Diabetes Diary can use data from other software programs.

Another useful feature is the ability to compare the nutritional values for any two foods listed in the database. This works for generic foods, brand name foods or for the restaurant choices.

Daily and Weekly Reports

Diabetes Diary offers a choice of daily and weekly reports.

The daily report shows the food choices and nutritional values for each meal or snack, blood glucose levels, weight, exercise and more. For weekly reports, you can select either blood glucose or nutrition.

On the weekly blood glucose report, you can choose up to five times daily to print. The results are shown in a bar graph for each time period. The weekly nutritional report will show the totals for each day of the week as well as the totals for the week and a daily average. These reports may be printed in either black and white or in color.
