I have learned from a good source that in Russia pig pancreas beta cells are injected into diabetics and within 3 days the patient is cured of the disease. This treatment is free to citizens of Russia (socialized medicine) but very costly for Americans traveling to Russia for the treatment. Why is this medical process not even mentioned in the United States let alone available to the public ? Is this the difference between socialized and for-profit medicine ? If so, it's a sad commentary for our country that profit for the medical community is held above the health of the citizens. Am I correct in thinking that while Russia cures diseases we here in the states only treat the symptoms to prolong the monetary benefits ? And what about gastric bypass surgery also curing diabetes ? P.S. I am a insulin dependent type 2 diabetic who compares diabetes to cancer as a slow and painful path to death !!!
