I was just thinking, I had been to every Diabetes Education calss that there was here and I finally sat down and took a look.. EACH ONE IS DIFFERENT in information. I noticed some DEs here saying if your type 2 you really only need to test once a week, just to have an idea of whats going on. Others say that  Type 2s dont need to test. When I asked about Sulfonylureas they didnt know what I was talking about. when I asked about the Byetta Deaths, they said it happens only to some people. So out of 5 Classes here n teh area NOT ONE knew what theyw ere talking about.

all 5 that was 10 presenters in total:

Did  not know what the chemicals wer ein drugs or what they did.

7 Said that Type 2s Did not have ot test often, maybe 1 time a week at most

Many suggested that a cure for Type 2 was diet and exercise

when a pateint asked about taking medication on time, only 3 could answer why it was important

The Type 1s that were there had NO insulin counseling

They did however know portion control

Not one knew of the Byetta Deaths

They did not know of Insulin Sensitivity, they thought ACTOS was for secreting insulin

All 10 had no PUMP training or knew what it was. just you ahve to contact the company to find out what to do

All 10 knew of ony three common meters and could not explain the difference in european setting  and  US settings

All 10 knew of only 4 common complications, they had never ehard of gastric pareisis, frozen shoulder, menstrual irregularities associated with high glucose levels, rebound neuropathy, kidney shut down

The list goes on and on.

So my  question is hwo can they teach diabetes education when they dont know the answers?
