Hello,

Copy and pasted from the email to me inviting people to join the forums: "We invite you to share your wisdom in our new forums, whether you are a diabetes community advocate, a health care professional, a person with diabetes, or all three."

Does this invitation include discussion about Dr. Richard K Bernstein, MD, and low carb as a means of managing diabetes?

Hello, welcome to the forums!

We definitely encourage discussion about Bernstein and low carb. Why not post a new thread in the Low Carb forum, under Food - or I can move this thread there.

Thank you!  I will start a new thread where you mentioned.  I didn't look through the other forum boards and wasn't aware you had already had a low carb section.  It's been my experience on many other diabetes forums that any mention of low carb or Dr. Bernstein resulted in being banned from the board.  For this forum, I decided to state upfront my method of managing diabetes, and if it wasn't welcome here, I wouldn't post.  ;-)

Thank you for allowing low carb discussions.  ;-)

Gdebussy - wow, I can't believe what I just read.  People were banned from other boards for people with diabetes just for mentioning low-carb or Dr. Bernstein? That is incredibly sad and so unfair!  Diabetes Health folks are very accommodating for both types of diet approach and were ahead of their times for many years with regard to low-carbing.  I think part of the reason is that Mr. Scott King (founder of the magazine along with Nadia Al-Samarrie) has type 1 diabetes and had to manage his diabetes more aggressively with a low-carb approach.  To his credit and the publisher's credit (Nadia Al-Samarrie), and the credit of dedicated people behind the scenes, many people were enlightened to the low-carb (and better, in my opinion) approach for managing diabetes.
