Hey everyone! Hope your summer has been fun but now school is coming up and I was wondering how you all handle your diabetes at school. Do you tell your teacher's that you have diabetes?  Do your friends know? Do you keep your meter with you or do you have to test in the nurse's office?  What do you use to treat a low?  Let's get some dialog going!  Maybe we can help each other! I will look forward to hearing from you and getting to know you-keep it real!- Eva

Hi. I know you think Eva and I are siblings and we are!  I have Type 1 also and we have a big brother Elliott who has is too.  All out of 9 kids!  We are all on different pumps but we have fun comparing them.  I am on a Deltec (I think it looks like a Digivice!), Eva an Animas and Elliott a Minimed.  It is cool to be able to bolus and not take shots. I am (just) 12 and I have a twin sister Elizabeth.  She doesn't have diabetes so far.  So for school... Everyone knows , even the janitors and I'm not kidding!  I have grown up with most of my classmates and since I got diabetes when I was 4 they have been use to me always having it. So, no big deal.  I test where I want to and treat anywhere also.  If I need to change my site I go to the nurse's office because of the "sharps" involved.  I carry my own "kit' in pack around my waist. I wear it all the time so I am use to having it on me. I have my testing supplies, glucagon, ketostix and gel (cakemate) and airheads, to treat a low, and granola bars to stabilize. I am trying really hard to beat Eva's A1c coming up at the end of the month. I have beaten her two times in a row now.  Anyway- as far as school goes it is pretty cool to have everything so easy to do and to get to.  It would be way cool to talk to other kids here.  Ask your parents and see if you can post. We will check back! Ean
