Hello!! My name is Eva.  I have Type one diabetes.  I was diagnosed when I was 8 . I am now 14. I am using an Animas pump and I am able to participate in most sports (Volleyball, Basketball and Track).  I wanted to start a thread here because I want to become a Pediatric Endocrinologist.  I think it is a good idea for teens with diabetes to have a place to "go" to talk, vent , gripe, or just express sucess in pumping and with diabetes in general.  I also have two other brothers that have diabetes and are on pumps ( though we are all on different brands) So, I plan on checking this site very often. If you have any ideas please post! School is coming up, how do you all handle everything?  It will be good to get to know everyone.  But first you have to post!!!!  TTYL-Eva

Hi Eva! My name is Kristen and I've been a type 1 diabetic since I was 11 (I'm now 40!).  I've been through it all as a diabetic...high school, college, relationships, jobs, marriage and most recently pregnancy and motherhood (I have a 1 yr. old baby boy).  If there's ever any questions you have, or you need any advice or just want to talk about how to deal with something, feel free to ask.  During my 28+ years as a diabetic I've never known another diabetic or had anyone to compare notes with and I always thought it would be nice to have someone to commiserate with.  So now it's my turn to help out someone else who might be going through the same things that I already went through. - Kristen

Hello Eva, I have a daughter your same age, Dalton, she was diagnosed at age 2 years old, 12+ years ago. I put her on the Medtronic Insulin Pump when she was 5 years old, pumps are miracles. She also wants to be a pediatric endocronologist. I commend you for your efforts in communicating with others and want to offer my years of experience to any moms or diabetics who have questions or just need to vent. Dalton was diagnosied on April Fools Day, however it wasn't a joke, we had already planned June  driving vacation from Arkansas to Charleston, South Carolina, and I was determined we were going. We did and I have made sure we do not and Dalton does not let diabetes keep her from doing whatever she desires. Looking forward to talking to whomever wants to talk.
