Can-Am Acquired by Selfcare Inc.

Selfcare Inc. of Waltham, Mass., recently acquired Can-Am Care Corporation, a leading supplier of diabetes care products, for $27 million.

With revenues of approximately $25 million in 1997, Can-Am Care markets syringes, lancets, glucose tablets and skin creams to pharmacies across the United States.

According to Robert Oringer, president of Can-Am Care Corporation, “Together, we plan to significantly expand our offerings of products designed to meet the special needs of consumers with diabetes.” Oringer will be part of the Selfcare board of directors and of the Selfcare management team in charge of Can-Am related business.

Selfcare Inc. also has branches in Scotland, Ireland, Germany and Israel and is engaged in the development, manufacture and marketing of health maintenance and self-test diagnostic products for diabetes, women’s health products and nutritional supplements.
